Publication Ethics
Ethical standards for publication is to assure high-quality scientific publications, people belief in scientific findings and expect to receive credit for their ideas.
Scient Open Access supports the principle of The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) is a national and international forum for editors, publishers those who involved in publication and provide “best practices” and “code of conduct” which define publication ethics. Also advises editors how to deal cases if any publication misconduct occurs.
It involves various steps and processes like study design, study execution, data collection, data analysis, and finally publication. Before going through these various steps in publication, one should be aware of ethical code of conduct that binds researchers at every stage. Some are listed below
Article Valuation
All submitted manuscripts of Scient Open Access journals will undergo peer review and expected to meet the high standards. If the editor approves manuscript then it undergo peer review process and the identities will not be disclosed to authors. Author’s information will be forwarded to the editor.
Data fabrication and falsification
Data Fabrication is making up data or adding additional data such as results, recording or reporting them without undergoing any research. Falsification is changing or omission or manipulating research materials like images, results, figures, tables, statistics, P values, 95% confidence intervals, hypotheses, odds ratios, other data etc.
Plagiarism
The English word "plagiarism" comes from the Latin word "plagiarius" meaning kidnapper. Plagiarism is the practice of taking somebody’s work or ideas or thoughts and presenting them as their own work.
Fraudulent Submission
Fraud submission can be in many ways and below are the two different submissions explained
Submitting manuscripts to different scientific journals at a time is called as simultaneous submission.
ii. Salami-slicing Submission:
Submitting manuscript which contains same content from a previously published manuscript is called as salami-slicing submission.
Ethical Authorship
The author should qualify the authorship and below are the basic criteria followed by Scient Open Access Journals
Perceived conflict of interest
In a situation in which a person or organization is involved in multiple interests such as financial, personal and social or other interests which influence author is known as conflict of interest.
